CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The EPB “Feed-A-Family” food drive delivered
holiday food supplies to 70 families in need today. This is the 20th
year employees have collected cash contributions and non-perishable
food items to deliver to local families.
Employees were able to use the cash contributions to purchase 70
turkeys and other holiday favorites. In addition to the food purchased,
staff members collected hundreds of pounds of non-perishable food
items. The EPB employees filled up baskets with the collected food and
delivered them to families selected by United Way 2-1-1; an independent
nonprofit organization.
“I have always enjoyed the caring spirit that EPB shows to the
community. Over the course of the years, I have seen how the
Feed-A-Family event has brought smiles and even tears of joy to many
faces,” said volunteer and EPB employee, Todd Edwards. “I consider it a
privilege to be able to participate in such a wonderful cause.”
The “Feed-A-Family” food drive has been a volunteer employee project
since it began in 1989. Staff takes part in every aspect of the
project. They collect the money, shop for the food and deliver the
baskets to the homes.
