Switching to Green Power is one way you can help make our community a cleaner place to live. Now both residential and commercial customers can ensure that more and more of our electric power is Green Power - power generated from renewable resources like wind, solar and methane gas. The increased use of Green Power can help ease our nation's dependence on non-renewable resources such as coal and other fossil fuels, and help preserve clean air and water for generations to come.

Although no energy source is impact-free, these renewable resources create less waste and pollution. In fact, a small addition of just $8 per month on your residential power bill buys enough Green Power to equal the environmental benefits of planting an entire acre of trees in the Chattanooga area.

Once enrolled, residential customers may purchase Green Power at a rate of just $4 per 150 kilowatt-hour block. Each block amounts to approximately 12% of the typical household's energy usage. The generated Green Power is then added to TVA's total power mix, which is shared by customers in the Tennessee Valley.
